Make sure you use our correct entrance!!!

We have had problems with customers following their Sat Navs a little too closely recently.

Many of you will recognise the above as the main entrance of Brendon Manor Stables, off the main B3223 on the corner as the road splits to the right to continue to Simonsbath and the Moor and the left taking you into Brendon Village.

THE ABOVE IS OUR CORRECT ENTRANCE AND SHOULD BE USED AT ALL TIMES.

However, we've had instances recently of Sat Nav's, especially GOOGLE, directing customers to our rear gate. This is instantly recognisable as its up a single track country lane (the road isn't even named), turning into the gateway as above. The problem usually arises if you are travelling from the South (Lynton, Barnstaple, Woolacombe) etc to the stables.

THE ABOVE IS THE INCORRECT ENTRANCE AND SHOULDN'T BE USED UNLESS ADVISED!

The above gateway is left open during operating hours as the returning route for most treks, with the track leading directly into our stable yard where other customers, children and horses are usually present. We have updated the signs so they are visible even when the gate is open, so if you end up at the rear gate by mistake it should tell you where to go to reach our main entrance.

We have contacted Google in order to make sure they amend their map to stop them sending vehicles this way.

In the meantime, please make sure you plan your route before setting off and if you do end up at the rear gateway, either continue and let your Sat Nav recalculate the route or stop and read the advice at the gateway. Failure to do so could course an accident and will force you into an awkward reverse. It will also mean than any time to enter the site via the correct route will be subtracted from your trekking time if you have booked a trek with us.

Please note: All damage claims to site from vehicles using the incorrect route are followed up, any commercial vehicle using the wrong entrance is always reported to their operating company.
